The Balm Down Boy Shadow/Blush Review & Swatches

I bought this in SaSa Hong Kong awhile ago and it has been my favourite blush to add a soft pink blush to my cheeks. This is definitely HG material :)

The packaging is fantastic, it's a card with magnet flap and the design is sort of inspired by Marilyn Monroe or the 60s. I love The Balm because their products are fantastic, pigmented and this powder is really true to it's colour. I could use this one blush all the time and not get bored of it. The Balm is also cruelty free and this product is paraben free, so it's an added plus point.

This is a matte pink blush with the right mix of warm and blue undertones to it, it can also be used as an eye shadow colour if you like it. The powder is somewhat creamy, it's just so soft and easy to apply with a single swipe, you can get a punch of colour.
Quoted from Sephora.com

"Down Boy
What it is:
A shadow and/or blush.

What it does:
TheBalm Down Boy adds just the right amount of pink to cheeks. The formula is paraben free and made of fine-graded powder, which helps to provide an even and smooth texture to the skin. The light-reflecting particles give off an aura of elegance that's sure to get you noticed.Size: 0.75 oz "

I used this blush in many of my tutorials, for example, pictures inserted are from my Wonder Girls SoHee Make Up Tutorial from the Be my Baby music video. I definitely love this product, I would repurchase, but It seems that it's going to take a while to hit pan on this one since it contains so much product inside and definitely worth spending extra bucks on(costs $21 in Sephora, bought it for a little more expensive price in HK).

Holika Holika Jewel-light Waterproof Eyeliner Review & Swatches

I got both of these Jewel-light Waterproof from Holika Holika in my latest haul. I heard good things about these eye liners so I had to pick some up, I chose the lighter colours because I thought that I would like my upper eye liner with no sparkle, but I might just get the Brown Jewel eye liner because I love them so much!
The product is packaged beautifully in a pencil form, it's just that it cant be twisted up or sharpened so I was really confused on what I would do if the tip is completely blunt.

I got them in the colour :

07 White Jewel, even though the package looks silver, product is an white based eye liner with a majority of silver sparkles.

08 Pink Jewel, this is a beautiful light pink highlight colour that shows more of a champagne colour and serves as a really nice highlight colour alternative for lower lash line or inner rim instead of white.

Swatches of White Jewel eye liner(7) and Pink Jewel eye liner(8)
in normal condition
Swatches of White Jewel eye liner(7) and Pink Jewel eye liner(8)
when rubbed really hard, the colour stays put but the glitters and shimmers migrate.

I did a test on these liners and put Oil -based Make Up remover(symboled O), Water(symboled W) and Smudge(when rubbed side to side vigorously)(symboled S).

Oil -based Make Up remover(symboled O): The liner was diluted at once and all of the pigment and glitter mix with the oil, this means that my make up remover( NYX Green Tea Make Up Remover & Cleansing Oil) is very powerful!

Water(symboled W) : colour stays on my hand when even when I put water on it. It proves that this liner is really WATERPROOF.

Smudge(when rubbed side to side vigorously)(symboled S): The shimmers and pigments migrate when rubbed hard but when we put it on eyes, it wouldn't budge unless we rub it vigorously.

I used the Pink Jewel liner to highlight my inner rim and under my eyes for a bright, wide - awake eyes and also Korean Ulzzang Make Up Look.

HAUL :) Skinfood Red Orange Jelly BB , Holika Holika Jewel-light Waterproof Eyeliner and NYX Slide on Pencil!

I just wanted to tell you guys that I hauled :

-Skinfood Red Orange Jelly BB No.2
-Holika Holika Jewel-light Waterproof Eyeliner ( 07 White Jewel, 08 Pink Jewel)
-NYX Slide on Pencil (Jet Black)

The mail came today in the afternoon and I was really excited to open it up!

I was pretty disappointed by the size of the Skinfood Red Orange Jelly BB Cream because it was so small in diameter but I am hoping that the content would make me satisfied.

I bought the Skinfood Red Orange Jelly BB in No.2 Natural Beige because it was raved in youtube by beauty gurus and I would like to try it by myself. I chose the darker shade because in my experience with the Holika Holika Aqua Petite Jelly BB , even the No.2 Natural Beige was too light for me, and was perfect for my sister! The product was really good ,had a nice refreshing minty and cooling feel but the colour didn't match my tan skin tone, It was just a bit lighter than my normal skin tone and I can pull it off in the winter while I was in Europe. But the tropical country Indonesia, that I am living in is very hot and there is no way I could pull it off in an everyday basis without looking unnaturally pale! :P

I heard from several beauty youtubers that this Jelly BB was sold out in many places so I decided to purchase this ready stock item on line, even though it was more expensive than the normal Pre Order price(which is higher than selling price in Korea).

The Holika Holika Jewel-light pencils were known to be the it pencils in Korea, being very affordable, has a fun variety of colours and Waterproof. I purchased White Jewel and Pink Jewel to highlight my lower waterline and that's why I chose the lighter colours. Actually I am also eyeing the Brown Jewel, so if I'm satisfied with them, I might just purchase some more.
I will do a review on this ASAP! :)

The NYX Slide on Eye Pencils are highly raved due to being very2 creamy, pigmented, long-lasting and smudge-proof! I have seen nothing but countless reviews so when I finished my Black Dolly Wink Liquid eyeliner I decided to purchase this. I also love the fact that they are cruelty free and hypo-allergenic so I don't have to worry about getting any possible rash when using the product.

Bye, and see you all in the next post with more review & swatches :P

Fairy Drops Candy Bar BB Cream in Ochre Review & Swatches

I bought this Fairy Drops Candy Bar BB Cream in Ochre a year ago around early July 2011 and didn't know  it would be one of the most raved BB creams around. Being a Japanese BB Cream from the Fairy Drops company, which was created by a former LA TV Caster Mayumi Yasutomo, this BB Cream is supposed to make our skin look good on air, when filming. Therefore it has no sunscreen or sun protection(spf), as the ingredients that are used to protect us against sun such as the titanium dioxide may oxidise on our skin after a few hours and leave a grey cast.

If you don't know what BB Creams are please do google it up because you might just be missing this ultimate sunscreen( this BB Cream is different because it has no spf, most others do )primer, foundation, moisturiser, occasionally whitening, anti-wrinkle product in your life!

The packaging is very well made, in a sense that they thought well about making it look cute and at the same time very portable(because of the sponge tip applicator, we don't need to bring extra foundation brush). The BB Cream is contained in a candy bar shaped bottle that has a cap, we can detach the compartments like shown in the photo above. The sponge can be removed and washed when we want to. The lace design with jewels and the brand name font is utterly cute/kawaii (>.<) .I actually bought this in Hong Kong for HK$198 in City Super, along with several other FAIRYDROPS items because of the irresistibly cute packaging design.
It turned out that the content is very high quality, so I am really really satisfied!

The back packaging mentions that :
-Has high-tech 5 kinds of Treatment Essence in it
- Micro-Gold Pearl hides scars and freckles
- Cover with thin film, and protect from dry and rough skin
- Soft Focus Powder uses light diffusion not to show wrinkles and make smooth skin
-Waterproof formula prevents Oily, shinny(package has wrong spelling :P ) skin
copied in a verbatim way from the back package.

no flash right, (blended out) left(swatch)
with flash tick, symbol(with BB cream) X symbol(without BB cream)
with no flash, tick symbol(with BB cream) X symbol(without BB cream)

This BB Cream has a thick consistency that is very easy to blend out using our fingers or the sponge tip applicator that we can dab directly on to our face. It has a high coverage that is build-able. When I use this, I find that I didn't need to apply any concealer and instead apply another layer of BB cream on top of my eye bags area. This BB cream does not melt off our face and performs well in cold and hot temperatures (in my country it's hot and in the holidays when I went overseas, it's cold) possibly due to the fact that it has a waterproof formula :)

This BB cream has a yellow undertone and fits around MAC's NC 30, it has a yellow undertone which suits most Asian skin with a natural beige skin tone.  I find that this doesn't accentuate the dry spots on my face and has proven its moisturising quality! I hugely recommend this product to people who want high coverage, moisturising properties and a flawless look on your face!

This is definitely my favourite BB cream so far that I own and I would definitely repurchase this because the colour match is very accurate to my face even though it looks different from my hand in the swatches. I absolutely love this BB Cream!

KATE Kanebo Gradical Eyes A Palette BR-1 Review & Swatches

Well, being a lover of Japanese cosmetics and neutral eye shadow looks drove me to buy this from one of the drug stores in Singapore. KATE is basically the edgy child brand of Kanebo with a more affordable drug store price but great quality. The packaging is simple and made of plastic but it serves well because it's lightweight and travel friendly because of the double ended brush(gradation brush and sponge tip applicator) that comes with it(forgot to take a picture of it). This mini eye shadow palette comes with a shimmery white eye base, a highlight colour, 2 medium colours and a dark colour. When I travel, I enjoy taking this pallette around because it never fails to stay put and enhance my brown eyes :)

Despite most Asian beauty products being sheer and shimmery in nature due to market preference, this eye shadow palette is definitely pigmented, especially when used with the shimmery white eye base that is from the palette itself at the end right side. When used alone, they still swatch beautifully and stay true to it's colour though it's definitely less vibrant compared to using a base, so we can achieve both a more natural eye look and vibrant eye look by using  the base and not. Layering the eye shadow definitely makes the colour more intense and blending is also very easy with the gradation side of the mini dual applicator that comes with the palette. These shadows are recommended to those who love shimmery colours because not a single one of the collection is matte!

I've prepared 5swatches of the shimmery white eye base on the back of my hand!

Swatches of the colours(from left to right): dark colour(deep copper-tone brown), medium colour(golden brown), medium colour(light gold), highlight(white with gold shimmer, tinge of yellow undertone), eye base(white with shimmers).
This is a look from my

Sephora Crayon Jumbo 12H Liner (waterproof) Review & Swatches

When I was travelling in Europe last December 2011, I went around to several Sephora stores and picked them up in the counter, they are really good at placing their products because, when you are waiting in line you can't help but to pick something up. Knowing that I would not have access to any Sephora stores for the next few moths, my sister asked me to grab and buy anything that I might like, therefore I bought the Sephora Crayon Jumbo 12H Liner(waterproof) in number 05 Beige and 08 Gold. I chose neutral colours that I would wear all the time because I don't want to invest on something that has so much product in it and ended up not using it and well it's also my personal preference. I thought that the packaging was simple and sleek, its good that the colour of the end of the packaging actually shows the true colour of the product, so it's easier when you are choosing the colours you want to buy, because at the counter- top, there are no testers and you might end up buying a colour that doesn't work for you :P

I was really satisfied because they live up to their names, being waterproof. They are also highly pigmented and provides a good base for my eye shadows. I love using the beige one as a highlight colour, on my nose and cheekbones, not my forehead though, it would just look odd. These are shimmery and glides really well on my lids, they are really easy to apply, and I just love the colour selection! When I was opening the plastic wrap, the tip of my beige jumbo liner broke off, I was sad about that but I reshaped it with clean fingers :) I learnt my lesson and didn't break the tip of of my gold one. I thought about comparing this to the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils and I think that these Sephora ones stand on the waxier feel and have less fallouts. The NYX one normally has a bit of residue when appying because they are a tad bit more powdery.

This is the swatch of both pencils, like I said, they are pigmented with colour, a punch of shimmer and are really gorgeous! :) They are also very easy to blend out and the colours are long lasting. I have never worn make up for 12 hours so far so I don't know whether it will stay up to twelve house, but they do not budge, even without any sort of primer. I think that setting the colour with some translucent powder would help it not crease if you want to use it as an all over eye shadow colour, but this is a liner and I don't expect it not to crease, so I'm fine with that. :)
I like using them as a base and line under my eyes for a more awakened and highlighted look.  Overall, I really like these crayons and would repurchase if I had access to more !
